I just spent some time with Chloe and Zoe. They have a basketfull of toys I've bought for them over the past 5 years and most of them look brand new - touched one time and them abandoned. You'll have to look closely at this picture to see Chloe's favorite game. I have the fabric part of the first toy I bought her - a piece of fabric attached to a stick with a little furry wad at the end of the fabric. The stick is long-gone but the fabric remains and Chloe loves to go under the bed and practice "stalking". However, Chloe is a pretty lazy girl so she stays under the bed and sticks out her paw to touch the fabric as it passes by her. I'll do this for her about 10 times and then I must admit I get tired of the game! While this is going on, Zoe likes to come over and watch, but through some communication between them, Zoe has been advised not to touch while she's playinng with me.

I did create a game that we can all play together, I rolled up a small ball of yarn the other night because they were both pulling on the yarn I was using to crochet. That was totally unrolled and wrapped around the legs of the dining room table and pulled across into the living room! Chloe started to cry because it was all unwound. Then I decided to roll it up from both ends so there were two balls. The cats love it but I'm exhausted. Right now one end is back in the dining room around the table legs, through the hallway and wrapped around the kitchen island. The other end is down the hall and into the bedroom. Both cats have gone to their afternoon sleeping places and I get to re-wind the yarn when I have a chance.

I've decided that I'm only rarely going to buy any more cat toys! Cartons, yarn, and balled up paper seem to be the most fun for them and bending down and then rewinding the yarn is great exercise for me:)
